How does it all work?

Your scout will be a part of a small group of boys his same age/grade called a Den. Each den has a leader who will help coordinate the meeting or activity for the month. In addition to a monthly den meeting, there will be a monthly Pack event. The pack events will include all the age levels (dens) and usually help to complete parts of required adventures for rank advancement.

What about sibling / family involvement?

Den meetings for younger scouts are to be attended WITH a responsible adult partner who is actively participating in the meeting. It is preferred that siblings not come to these events. Pack meetings are events for the whole family and all are welcome!

What does it all cost?

  • Annual dues to BSA: $72
  • Annual Pack dues: $78
  • Uniform with patches: About $25 per year (assuming your scout wears his shirt for two years)
  • Cub Scout Handbook: $20-$30
  • Additional fees for camping and other special events: Varies, typically $5-10 per person for each large event
  • Yearly Cost: roughly $200 – $250 per scout per year

What are the Pack dues used for?

Pack dues are used to offset the cost of running the large events and are used for facility rentals, purchase of supplies (i.e. pinewood derby cars, rain gutter regatta boats, etc.). Some events (like camping) require an additional fee per person to assist with food purchases. Pack dues are also used to pay for annual BSA dues, as well as purchase patches, slides, and other rank advancement / uniform items.

How do I complete Youth Protection Training (YPT)?
